If you’re dreaming of studying in Italy, here’s some great news: the Italian Government is offering scholarships for the 2025–2026 academic year to both international students and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE). These scholarships are designed to boost international cooperation in areas like culture, science, and technology, while also promoting the Italian language and culture.

These scholarships apply to public and legally recognized Italian universities and higher education institutes.
📚 Eligible Programs
You can apply if you’re interested in any of the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Laurea Triennale, 1° ciclo)
- Single Cycle Degree (Laurea Magistrale a ciclo unico)
- Master’s Degree (Laurea Magistrale, 2° ciclo)
- AFAM programs (Arts, Music, and Dance)
- PhD programs
- Research under academic supervision
- Italian Language and Culture Courses

These scholarships are open to foreign nationals from eligible countries and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE).
💸 Scholarship Benefits
Here’s what you get if selected:
- Tuition Fees: You may be exempted from paying enrollment and tuition fees—this depends on the specific university.
- Medical Insurance: Full health and medical coverage (excluding pre-existing conditions) for the duration of the scholarship.
- Financial Support:
- €9,000 grant (paid in 3 installments) for most programs.
- €3,000 for Italian language and culture courses (paid once).
⏳ Duration
The scholarship covers 3 to 9 months, depending on your program.
✅ Eligibility Requirements
Make sure you check all the boxes:
- Academic qualifications must meet the requirements of your chosen institution in Italy.
- Age limits:
- Bachelor’s or Single Cycle: under 23 years old (born after 16 May 2002)
- Master’s, AFAM, or language courses: under 28 years (born after 16 May 1996)
- PhD: under 30 years (born after 16 May 1994)
- Research: under 40 years (born after 16 May 1984)
- Language proficiency:
- For courses taught in Italian: at least B2 in Italian.
- For courses taught in English: B2 in English. If English is your country’s official language, you can self-certify your skills.
